Park Reading Hours: Tonight 7pm @ Clinton Park!

We hope to see you for our next Park Reading Hours get together this evening at Clinton Park. The street address is 5576 SE Division St Portland, OR 97206, but we’ll be gathering in the upper fields close to the tennis courts, which is closer to SE Woodward than SE Division. We recommend parking along SE Woodward. We’ll be on grass that is relatively level and close to a paved walkway. There are park restrooms that are accessible via a short walk on a paved path that is mostly level.

• Bring a book to read OR order a book from us to pick up at the event. If you want to order for pickup, select "free local delivery" at checkout and in the order notes, mention you'd like to pick up at the Park Reading Hours event.

• Feel free to bring snacks, (non-alcoholic) beverages, or a full picnic. Make sure you bring something to sit on!

• We’ll mingle for a little bit, read quietly, then mingle some more. Folks are welcome to chat as little or as much as they’d like! If you like to mingle, we recommend arriving a little early. 🙂

• We’d love your input! We’re still collecting responses to our short survey to gather feedback on events, our stock, and other items as we think about how we can best meet community needs. You have until September 1 to complete this short survey and be entered to win a $25 gift card to our shop! 

• We take book donations! We'd love to take your gently used diverse books and help pass them on to another community member. We sell used books for $1-4 at our pop-ups to help make diverse books as accessible as we can. Send us an email to coordinate or ask questions. We will give you a $5 off coupon in exchange for your gently used books.

• Book Subscription Boxes: We now offer monthly and quarterly subscription boxes. These make amazing gifts, or can keep your new-book habit fed without having to seek out your next title. We cater to all ages and you can tell us what kind of books you’re into (or what you hate) in the order comments. We LOVE sending book mail to our book buds! Like the idea of this but something about our set-up isn’t quite right for you? Shoot us a message and tell us how we can help you go from “meh” to “oooh yeah, I’m in!”.

• You can preorder books through us! We are particularly excited about a few books that are coming out late this fall, but if there is a particular book you have your eye on, we’d love to preorder it for you. If you live in Portland, you get free bike delivery on pub day! If you don’t live in Portland, you’ll get your book as close to after pub day as we can without getting in trouble with publishers. You can check out the books we currently have preorder campaigns for here, or send us an email with the book(s) you want to preorder you don’t see on our online shop already. You can also always preorder books through our Bookshop.org page.

Help us support Cascade AIDS Project

On Saturday, September 13, we’ll be participating in AIDS Walk Northwest to raise funds for Cascade AIDS Project (CAP). CAP provides life-saving HIV prevention, healthcare, housing, and support services for people in Oregon and SW Washington.

We’re walking because we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, stigma-free healthcare regardless of status, income, race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Our goal is to raise $1,000 and your donation can make a real difference for those affected by HIV & AIDS in our community.

  • Join us and 100+ of the best local designers, artists, makers, vintage curators, and food vendors! There will also be a pup meet and greet in partnership with One Tail At A Time! Luckily, the weather should be scrumptious.

• September 4: Full Moon Night Market, 6-9pm | Hotel Zags

  • Join us for the 2nd Annual Full Moon Night Market at The Hotel Zags, featuring live music, local vendors, creative makers, drinks, food, installations, and plenty of community vibes under the glow of the full moon. The courtyard will transform into an open-air market where guests can shop, snack, sip, and enjoy the evening with friends and neighbors.

• September 6: Clinton-Division Street Fair, 10am-5pm | SE Clinton Street from SE 25th to 28th Avenues

  • Join us for our last Portland Street Fair of the season! Lots of great music, food, and vendors in one of our favorite neighborhoods.

• September 13: AIDS Walk NW, 9am-12pm | Tom McCall Waterfront Park

  • We’ll be vending and walking at this phenomenal event in September. Put on every year by Cascade AIDS Project, this event is a celebration of community and to raise awareness on how HIV & AIDS continue to impact our communities and to raise funds to support the vital work CAP does for our community. Please consider joining us in our walk or donating to our fundraising team! Every dollar helps.

• September 20: Audiobook Walk, 10am | Wallflower Coffee Co

  • Come walk and listen with us! We’ll meet at Wallflower Coffee Co (3158 SE Division St). Arrive early to grab a drink and mingle and then we’ll venture on our walk starting at 10am.

  • We’ll walk to Ladd’s Addition (about 2 miles round trip) then back to Wallflower Coffee Co. We anticipate being back at Wallflower Coffee at around 11-11:30am. For those interested, we’ll mingle a little longer!

• September 20: Analog Pop-up, 2-6pm | While on Earth 

  • A pop up with all things analog! New and Vintage books, Records, Games and more! Inside the lovely While on Earth boutique on NE Sandy.

• September 25: Park Reading Hours, 6pm | Clinton Park

  • Please notice the time change! Moving one hour earlier since the sun is going down earlier.
