Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day w/ Us 📚
We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate our first Indie Bookstore Day next weekend, Saturday April 25th! Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. We will be celebrating all day, so we hope you’ll join us!
Can’t join us in person? You can still support our shop and celebrate Independent Bookstore Day by shopping from our “storefront” on Bookshop.org and getting free shipping April 25-26. Access to thousands of books, free shipping, and we get 30% of each sale. |
Read on to learn all the details on our day of celebrations!
Call for used book donations: Do you have gently used books you’re wanting to get rid of to make room for new books on your shelves? We like to keep a selection of gently used books to make them more financially accessible to folks. We generally price them for $1-6 and will also often donate them to good causes around the city. If you have books you’d like to donate to us, please reply to this email and we can coordinate a pickup or drop off. We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated books to our shop.

Find the Golden Ticket, Win 12 Free Audiobooks 🎧

We will be hiding a Golden Ticket in the store early Saturday morning before we open at 8am. The person who finds the Golden Ticket will win a code to redeem 12 free audiobooks from our book buds, Libro.fm!
The Golden Ticket will be hidden near books but not inside books at the store, so please be gentle while searching. We can’t wait to see who wins this treasure trove of audiobooks!
In addition to this amazing audiobook giveaway, Libro.fm will be joining us for more celebrations by hosting an amazing audiobook sale and offering new Libro.fm members two free audiobooks for joining!

We are filthy rich in Portland in terms of having amazing authors that live right here in our beautiful city. I am so excited for y’all to come chat with these fantastic authors and get some books signed!
12-1pm: Olufunke Grace Bankole (Literary Fiction), The Edge of Water
1-2pm: Alison Cochrun (LGBTQ Romantic Comedies), Every Step She Takes, Here We Go Again, Kiss Her Once for Me, & The Charm Offensive
2-3pm: Anita Kelly (LGBTQ Romance, adult & young adult): Donut Summer, Love & Other Disasters, Something Wild & Wonderful, How you Get the Girl, & Heartwaves
3-4pm: C.J. Switzer (fantasy): Morvelving
3-4pm: Jasmine Sears (Picture & Middle Grade): The Little Red Hen Learns How to Ask for Help & Where the Veil Thins
We will have copies of each author’s book on hand for you to purchase and get signed. If you already own one of their books, you’re welcome to bring it and have it signed.

Specials and Sales ✨🪩
We will be having a huge sidewalk sale with tons of books 20% off and a selection of gently used books that will be priced from $1-6.
Spend any amount and be entered to win a $50 Endless Wonders Books gift card! Spend any amount with us (Hungry Heart purchases are not eligible) on Indie Bookstore Day and you can fill out a raffle ticket to be entered to win a $50 gift card to our shop. Winner will be announced at the end of the day.
Spend $75, get a free Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) book! Publishers will send us books before they’ve officially been published to drive hype and try to convince us booksellers to carry the book in our stores. Legally, we cannot sell them, so we love to give them away as prizes (and we have been known to drop them off at Little Free Libraries when doing online order deliveries 😉 ). Spend $75 and you get to choose any ARC we have to take home with you for free as a thank you.
Spend $100, get a free ARC & a free Endless Wonders tote bag! Thank you for supporting our store! Pick a free book from our ARC treasure chest and take your choice of our branded tote bags. We think they’re pretty cute and work great for toting your book stack around town.
$1 mini cupcakes from Hungry Heart! From 12-4pm, Hungry Heart will be joining in the fun by selling mini cupcakes for $1 each (max 4/person).

Be the First to Get Our New Merch 🧢🚲
We are so excited to be adding some new merch to our store, including a new store sticker designed by the one and only Zimmsie Illustration. We met Zimmsie at our very first market last summer and began carrying some of her prints and cards shortly thereafter. You’ll recognize her “Happy Birth-Gay” and “Happy Birthday You Hot Slut” cards in addition to her very popular “Queer Birds of the PNW” prints. It was a dream to work with her on a new sticker for the store. We hope you love it as much as we do! I can’t even show you a picture yet, so you’ll just have to believe me when I say it is very cute and you will definitely want it on your emotional support water bottle, your bike, your cooler, and your planners. Stickers are $4!
We’ve also designed some new hats! These hats are super soft, very cozy, very bookish. We’re obsessed and hope you are too, book buds. Hats come in a foresty green and maroon and are $28. Each hat has “book bud” embroidered on the front in a cream color.

May Book Club Pick 📚
Ok, this one isn’t Indie Bookstore Day related, but still timely relevant. In May, the EWB Book Club is venturing to the horror genre and the book buds have voted for Andrew Joseph White’s young adult novel, The Spirit Bares Its Teeth. Per usual, purchasing book club picks directly from us saves you 10%. Of course, you can also find it on Bookshop, Libro, or the Multnomah County Library.
Mors vincit omnia. Death conquers all.
London, 1883. The Veil between the living and dead has thinned. Violet-eyed mediums commune with spirits under the watchful eye of the Royal Speaker Society, and sixteen-year-old trans, autistic Silas Bell would rather rip out his violet eyes than become an obedient Speaker wife.
After a failed attempt to escape an arranged marriage, Silas is diagnosed with Veil sickness—a mysterious disease sending violet-eyed women into madness—and shipped away to Braxton’s Finishing School and Sanitorium. When the ghosts of missing students start begging Silas for help, he decides to reach into Braxton’s innards and expose its guts to the world—so long as the school doesn’t break him first.
Featuring an autistic trans protagonist in a historical setting, Andrew Joseph White’s much-anticipated sophomore novel does not back down from exposing the violence of the patriarchy and the harm inflicted on trans youth who are forced into conformity.
